I was telling my son to hurry up because we were almost running late. It got me thinking–I ask the same of God. When I don’t like it, I get mad, worry, feel overwhelmed, just like when I am trying to get me and my son out the door.
Have you ever done that? Try and hurry God so you get what you want? I know that God knows my desires. It says so in Psalms 38:9: You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. There have been times when my heart’s desire has changed and I think that can be a reason why I don’t have what I want. Then I have to ask myself~~what is my heart’s desire? Is it God’s will?
I think what makes it harder, for me, is that I feel like I am in God’s will and it has resulted in more hardships. Why? Maybe God is building my faith and trust in Him. He sees my struggles and can resolve it, but isn’t. There are times when my husband has to carry the burden of praying because I get tired of praying for the same thing over and over again. The same need that God can fulfill, but isn’t.
A verse came to my attention recently that hit me hard. Psalms 116:2~~ Because he bends down to listen,I will pray as long as I have breath! That right there is telling me that I CAN NOT give up. (For whatever reason, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 isn’t enough).
The good news–God will meet you where you are. Trying to get ahead of His perfect plan? He is there. Scared to step out in faith? He is there.
All I can do is trust that God’s timing is perfect and can’t be rushed.
